Jon Streeter, the President of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers of Northern California and the immediate Past- President of the Bar Association of San Francisco, is a partner with Keker & Van Nest. He specializes in complex commercial civil litigation.

Jon has handled a wide variety of cases in the trial and appellate courts, both state and federal, and his expertise includes many specialized fields, such as intellectual property, antitrust, securities, and energy. His clients include corporations, public utilities, and public entities. He has been named one of 100 Super Lawyers in Northern California by San Francisco Magazine, and he is listed in Chambers USA's directory of America's Leading Lawyers for Business.

Jon is a Member of the Executive Committee and a Master Member of the Edward McFetridge Chapter of the American Inns of Court; a member of the American Law Institute; a member of the American Constitution Society; a member of the Honorary Committee for Justice Fund Campaign of the Legal Aid Society of San Francisco; a past member of the Board of Directors of the American Civil Liberties Union (1998-2003); and a past chair of the Northern District of California Lawyer Representatives to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals (1998-99).

In addition to his commercial practice and varied bar leadership activities, Jon is chair of Keker & Van Nestês Pro Bono Committee and maintains an active pro bono practice. His pro bono cases have included civil rights cases such as Avila v. Berkeley Unified School District, Alameda County Superior Court, No. 03110397 (2004), in voluntary desegregation case in which he represented the school district; Rodriguez v. California Highway Patrol, 89 F. Supp. 2d 1131 (N.D. Cal. 2000), a racial profiling class action in which he represented the plaintiffs; and Dyer v. Calderon, 151 F.3d 970 (9th Cir 1997) (en banc), cert. denied, 525 U.S. 1033, 119 S.Ct. (1998), a death penalty case in which he represented the defendant. In recognition of his distinguished record of leadership in the field pro bono representation, in Janaury 2005 Jon received the prestigious Robert G. Sproul Jr. Award from the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Jon has a long record of dedication to community and public service. He currently serves as an appointed commissioner on three governmental commissions: (1) the Ninth Circuit Task Force on Self-Represented Litigants (appointed by Chief Judge Mary Schroeder in January of 2003), (2) the California Senate Commission on the Fair Administration of Justice (appointed by former Senate President Pro Tem John Burton in November 2004), and (3) the Berkeley Task Force on Creeks and Culverts (appointed by Mayor Tom Bates in December 2004). Jon is also a member of the Board of Directors of SFJazz, a non-profit presenter of jazz music in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Jon joined Keker & Van Nest in 1997 from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, where he practiced for more than fifteen years, eight as a partner. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations from Stanford in 1978 and a Juris Doctor from Boalt Hall School of Law in 1981. He is a former law clerk to Judge Harry T. Edwards of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit (1982-83), and a former law student extern to Judge Thelton E. Henderson of the Northern District of California (1980).
